Abortions are legal in Arizona for 15 weeks from the first day of the patient’s last menstrual period. Abortion is legal after the 15th week only in medical emergencies.

Arizona requires a consultation at least 24 hours prior to an abortion. An ultrasound is required and will most often be performed during this appointment. The doctor explains the abortion procedure, and this is an opportunity to have your questions answered.

Arizona requires parental consent for a minor to obtain an abortion. The consent for the abortion must be from a parent or guardian. A judicial bypass can be obtained in some circumstances.

In Arizona, minors are allowed to seek pregnancy tests, STD/STI testing, and prenatal care without parental consent. Parents cannot make a minor leave the home without providing the minor appropriate provisions.
